Govenor Jeb Bush was thought to be Pro-Affirmative Action. He has created an Executive Order ridding Florida of Affirmative Action. It is not known if he is trying to prevent a law, which is difficult to overturn, that prohibits Affirmative Action; preferring an Executive Order than can be more easily repealed. In any event, civil rights groups are appalled and 50,000 people are protesting.

California:

• Proposition 209 Passed - Affirmative Action repealed. California is currently fighting back.
• Bill Bagley trying to overturn SP1 which gutted Affirmative Action at UC Berkeley.
• Govenor Gray Davis has created a Diversity Task Force.
